The criteria of market capitalization and stock-exchange turnover are the basis for selecting the companies in the indexes. The capitalization of the companies in the ranking is based on 31 January 2002. The turnover figures in euros take into account the order-book turnover from 01 February 2001 to 31 January 2002. For those companies whose shares were admitted for trading during the course of this period, the turnover is extrapolated. Any changes in the composition of the indexes will be decided on February 13 based on the rankings and will become effective as of March 18.
As announced in November, Deutsche Börse has also published a comprehensive scenario ranking based on the free-float criterion. The data provide an orientation aid for issuers and investors, but do not yet serve as the basis for an index decision. The decision regarding possible index changes based on free float will be made for the SDAX and NEMAX 50 in May for the first time, based on the ranking that is current at that time. The DAX and MDAX will be reviewed in August 2002.
