David Harris Appointed General Counsel Of Nasdaq Liffe Markets

Nasdaq Liffe Markets (NqLX) today announced that David Harris has been appointed General Counsel for NqLX. Harris will be responsible for providing legal counsel and advice to the senior management of NqLX regarding the day-to-day operations of the organization, its strategic initiatives and governmental regulation, among other matters.

"David is a great asset to our team," said Robert Fitzsimmons, acting Chief Executive Officer, and President and Chief Operating Officer of NqLX. "His knowledge and experience in the financial community will help tremendously as we build the single-stock futures business."

Prior to joining NqLX, Harris was counsel to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officers of the National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc., and The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. In this role, he led the second phase of Nasdaq's Private Placement, which raised more than $180 million for NASD® and Nasdaq®, among other initiatives.

From 1994 to 1999, Harris was a Senior Associate at the Washington, D.C., law firm of Kirkpatrick & Lockhart, where he provided counsel to broker/dealers, banks, investment advisors and individuals regarding compliance with federal securities laws, state securities laws and SRO rules. He has also served as Senior Counsel within the Division of Enforcement of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission from 1990 to 1994.

Harris graduated cum laude from Villanova University with a B.S. in Business Administration, and has a J.D. from Catholic University School of Law.
