On October 14, 2014, the KOSDAQ Market of the Korea Exchange (KRX) listed 43,000,434 of new shares that had been issued following the merger between Daum Communications Corp. and Kakao Corp.
Upon the listing of Daum Kakao, the combined entity newly emerged as the largest KOSDAQ-listed company in terms of market capitalization.
* Daum Communications Corp. is expected to change its trade name into Daum Kakao Corp. at an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting to be convened on October 31, 2014.
Through post-merger listing, DaumKakao has come to have the largest market capitalization among KOSDAQ-listed companies. This is the first time in 5 years and 9 months that an IT company ranks first in terms of market capitalization on the KOSDAQ market. Prior to DaumKakao, SK Broadband did so back in 2008.
This is expected to motivate other innovative and creative companies to have their stocks listed and reinforce the KOSDAQ’s identity as a high-tech company oriented stock market, thereby contributing significantly to invigorating the KOSDAQ market.
