DataArt Acquires AW Systems, Will Strengthen Global Operations With Development Center In Argentina

Date 10/09/2014

 DataArt, a global provider of custom software development services, announced today that it has acquired AW Systems, a web engineering and consulting firm specializing in usability, systems integrations and collaboration solutions, to expand its portfolio of consulting services. The acquisition will be followed by opening a development center in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with a focus on front-end software development across DataArt key industry verticals, including financial services, travel, media, healthcare, and M2M.

“The merger signifies a new chapter in DataArt’s history as it will now have a truly global footprint, with delivery locations in Eastern & Central Europe, and soon Latin America,” said Eugene Goland, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at DataArt. “We’re thrilled to have such a strong addition of experts to our team and look forward to bringing another dimension of excellence to servicing our clients.”

DataArt’s clients will have access to a wider pool of talent, a higher degree of reliability across the regions, and the ability to hedge delivery risks across portfolios. North American clients will have the option of being served out of a delivery location in their time zone and will benefit from an expanded consulting and engineering team in New York, which has been doubled. Furthermore, they will be aided by AW Systems’ strong expertise in user experience/usability, solution design, integration, and collaboration.

AW Systems (www.awsystems.com), whose clients include United Technologies Aerospace Systems, oneworld Alliance and Habitat for Humanity International, will continue to be supported by the same resources and with the same dedication and attention to detail to which they are accustomed, now backed by over 1,200 DataArt engineers, a world-class corporate infrastructure, financial resources, and software development methods that DataArt has developed over two decades of serving more than 350 clients across the United States and Europe.

Through the acquisition, DataArt has also incorporated the entire AW Systems team into its operations. Allan Wellenstein and Alistair Wandesforde, the two AW’s of AW Systems, have joined DataArt’s senior management team as Partners.  Allan will lead DataArt’s new usability practice, while Alistair, having established and managed a team of independent consultants in Buenos Aries, will assist in the integration of those operations into the DataArt family, and continue his work developing effective software solutions for clients.

“As AW Systems integrates into DataArt, we are excited about the opportunities that DataArt’s scale and experience will present to our clients and equally excited about the opportunities that our consulting strength – particularly in the areas of usability and solution design – will present to DataArt’s clients,” said Alistair Wandesforde. “Additionally, AW Systems’ experience in Buenos Aires – cultivating a dedicated team of senior architects and engineers – will help DataArt jump start its operations there.”

Together, the two companies will invest in developing a set of solutions that address some of the most critical IT problems across its key focus industries:

  • Collaboration and information management, based on both MS SharePoint and open-source platforms;
  • Business Process Management (BPM);
  • Data analytics, visualization, and reporting;
  • Mobility; and
  • Usability and user experience.
