Dan Gallagher, a former Commissioner of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director of the Irish Stock Exchange (ISE). Dan brings his extensive legal and regulatory experience and expertise of international capital markets to the ISE’s Board.
On joining the ISE Board, Mr Gallagher said, “I am truly honored to have been asked to join the board of the Irish Stock Exchange. Over the years, I have gotten to know and respect the senior management of the ISE and am looking forward to working with them in my new role. I am also excited to work with the talented members of the Board, and I am looking forward to contributing my knowledge and experience of global capital markets regulation to the ISE, especially during such a pivotal time for European capital markets.”
Welcoming Mr Gallagher to the Board, Padraic O’Connor, Chairman, added, “Dan’s expertise and wealth of experience will be invaluable to the ISE’s Board. We have more than 4,000 issuers from 80 countries around the world listed on our markets so his international perspective very much complements the global nature of the ISE’s business.”
Deirdre Somers, Chief Executive of the ISE said, “I am delighted that Dan has agreed to become part of the ISE Board. He is well-known as an advocate for enabling capital markets to deliver to their fundamental role - providing much needed funding for business while balancing the rights of investors. His leadership role in the SEC and his experience of US markets are very relevant in the context of EU’s plans around Capital Markets Union.”
