Dalian Commodity Exchange Holds Seminar To Promote Service For Agriculture

On July 17, Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) held a seminar of lecturers for sharing experience in the "San Nong" (issues of agriculture, farmer and rural area) in Dalian, with the aim of comparing notes on giving further play to the roles of the futures experts and lecturers mission and serving the “San Nong”. Nearly 40 attendees were present at the seminar, including the officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Agriculture Commissions of relevant provinces and municipalities, the executives of futures companies and the members of DCE “San Nong” lecturers mission.
 
Speaking highly of the achievements made by DCE in the service for “San Nong”, Zhan Huilong, Deputy Director of the Rural Social Undertaking Development Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, said that DCE is not only an important force for pushing forward the development of the market economy in China but also an organization that is highly concerned for the development of “San Nong” and highly responsible for the society. He pointed out that the involvement of DCE not only provides large numbers of farmers and college-graduate village officials with a wealth of futures knowledge and resources but also advances the development of modern agriculture and the construction of the new rural areas.   
 
Zhan also said that the Ministry of Agriculture and DCE have common concerns, complementing each other in resources. As China is now in the stage of transition from traditional agriculture to modern agriculture, it is an important issue for China’s agricultural development how to boost the industrial development with modern business means and proper business models. In the future, the two sides will continue to conduct in-depth research and cooperation to better explore the good channels, means and methods for advancing the industrial development and improving the farmers’ quality. Further extending the training to more extensive and professional fields, the Ministry of Agriculture will push forward the cooperation with DCE so as to jointly promote the development of the cause of “San Nong” in China.
 
According to an official of DCE, over the years, DCE has accumulated a wealth of experience in serving the “San Nong” through the activities such as the market service project of "Thousands of Villages and Tens of Thousands of Households", and has been expanding the new channels for serving the “San Nong” through the close cooperation with the industrial authorities and associations. Since last year, DCE has achieved desirable effects by participating in the activity of “Demonstration Training Class for Foregoers of Practical Skills Talents and College-graduate Village Officials” organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and setting up the “San Nong Lecturers Mission” to lecture on knowledge of futures and market, pass on the knowledge, concepts and skills of futures to the rural talents of practical skills and the college-graduate village officials, and help them learn about and take advantage of the futures market. In the future, DCE will step up the efforts in organizing the futures professionals to educate on the futures in the vast rural areas and supporting its members in joining in the activities of serving the “San Nong” and the real economy in various forms.
 
Delivering demonstration lectures at the seminar were Professor Li Ling, member of the National Agricultural Vocational Education Steering Committee and Wang Chen, manager of business department of Nanhua Futures and an outstanding lecturer of the “San Nong Lecturers Mission”. The representatives of the “San Nong Lecturers Mission” present discussed the contents of the courseware on futures and fully compared notes on the experience in teaching.
 
It is learnt that, DCE selected a number of futures experts to organize the “San Nong Lecturers Mission” in an effort to participate in the activity of “Demonstration Training Class for Foregoers of Practical Skills Talents and College-graduate Village Officials” organized by the Ministry of Agriculture in 2012, when it organized 10-plus lectures given by the experts of the mission and trained more than 1,070 trainees including officials of cooperatives, rural cadres, college-graduate village officials and large-scale crop growers from 23 provinces and municipalities, gaining recognition of the Ministry of Agriculture. This year DCE and the Ministry of Agriculture will join hands to organize 40 training classes on the futures, and by the end of June, more than 500 trainees from 20 provinces and municipalities had been trained including officials of cooperatives, rural cadres, college-graduate village officials, and large-scale crop growers.
