As a result of the trading session, held on the MICEX 19 February, 2003, trades turnover in the Stock Market Section reached 15,52 billion rubles (about 492 million dollars). This is a record turnover in the history of stock trades on the MICEX, which were launched in March, 1997. The previous record of 19 November, 2002, was 14,52 billion rubles. The MICEX Index, indicating the level of prices of 18 leading issuers, listed on the MICEX, reached 327,7 points, a 2,8% increase since the beginning of the year.
The structure of the trade turnover as a result of trades, held 19 February, 2003, in the MICEX Stock Market Section:
- secondary trades in shares: 6,689 billion rubles;
- secondary trades in corporate and regional bonds: 3,875 billion rubles;
- primary distribution of bonds: 4,309 billion rubles;
- REPO transactions: 0,621 billion rubles;
- other instruments (eurobonds, shares of mutual funds): 0,026 billion rubles.
As of today, 290 securities of over 170 leading Russian issuers are admitted to circulation on the MICEX, including such blue chips as RAO UES, LUKoil, Surgutneftegaz, Gazprom, Sberbank, Vneshtorgbank, Rostelekom and others with the total capitalization of about 80 billion dollars. Participants in trades are over 500 banks and financial companies - members of the MICEX Stock Market Section. In 2002, the volume of transactions, concluded on the MICEX in corporate securities, reached 1,38 trillion rubles (about 44 billion dollars), or over 80% of the total turnover of Russia's leading floors. In February, 2003, the daily average turnover in the MICEX Stock Market Section reached 8,07 billion rubles, a 46,5% increase over the level of 2002.
