During November there was a slight decrease in the General Price Index and a particular decrease in the value of shares traded compared to October. The various figures and statistics are analysed below:

Prices

The last day of the month General Price Index was 225.92 points. It is worthy to mention, however, that the highest level that the index reached for the month was 292.84 points. On a sectoral level, sub-indices reached the following points: Banking sector 246.74, Approval Investment companies sector 184.04, Insurance companies sector 94.79, Manufacturing sector 79.51. Tourism sector 127.25, Trading sector 53.04, the Other Companies sector 251.98, Building Materials and Construction sector 67.56, Information Technology 74.79, Financial Services 66.42, Fish Culture 91.34, and finally Hotels with 70.47 points.

Market Capitalization

The total market capitalisation (shares) reached £6,405 billion from £7,704 billion the previous month registering a decrease of 16.86%. According to this month results the Banking sector accounted for 40.50% of the total market capitalisation, the Miscellaneous Companies sector 11.39%, and the Tourism sector 2.98%. The Trading sector 2.87%, the Manufacturing sector 5.40%, the Approved Investment Companies sector 6.62%, the Insurance sector 1.05%, the Building and Materials and Construction sector 2.86%, the Information Technology sector 11.86%, the Financial Services sector 8.22%, the Fish Culture sector 0.90%, and finally Hotels sector with 5.37% respectively, of the total market capitalisation. Moreover the total market capitalisation including the Corporate and Government bonds decreased to £7,582 billion compared to £8,774 billion at the previous month registering a decrease of 13.59%.

Transactions

The total value of transactions during the month in review reached £299 million with an average of £15 million per trading session. The Banking sector contributed 30.66% of the total value traded, which was the highest, whereas the Government Bonds had the lowest contribution with 0.01%.

Investors primarily focused their interest on the shares of L.K.Globalsoft.Com Ltd and Cyprus Bank Ltd with 16.27% and 15.92% respectively.
