Monthly review of developments

On the last trading session of August 2005 the General Price Index of the Main and Parallel Market reached 1.297,11 points, representing a relative increase of 5,37 %. The value of shares traded also exhibited an increase of 43,31 % compared to the previous month.

It is worth mentioning however, that the highest level the index reached for the month was 1.299,63 points. The other Market Indices reached the following levels: Main Market reached 1.307,77, Parallel Market 1.023,25, Alternative Market 963,78, Investment Companies 1.003,32 points. On a sectoral level, sub-indices reached the following levels: Banking sector 1.357,40, Hotels 1.101,50, FTSE/CySE20 437,04 and finally the FTSE Med 100 reached 8.074,55 points.

The market capitalisation of shares (excluding Investment Companies Market) reached £2,54 billion. According to this month’s results, the Main Market accounted for 35,87% of the total market capitalisation, the Parallel Market 2,47%, the Alternative Market 7,84%, the Investment Companies Market 2,20% and the Bond Market 51,47%. Moreover the total market capitalisation, including the Investment Companies Market, Warrants and the Bond Market reached £5,504 billion compared to £5,276 billion the previous month, registering an increase of 4,33 %.

The total value of transactions during the month in review reached £13,36 million, with an average of £607,09 thousand per trading session. The Financials sector contributed 74,49% to the total value traded, which was the highest, whereas the Corporate Bonds sector had the lowest contribution with 0,20%. Investors primarily focused their interest on the shares of “Bank of Cyprus Public Company Ltd” and “Cyprus Popular Bank Public Company Ltd” with 45,33% and 15,13% respectively.

Listed Companies news

On the 1st of August 2005, the CSE Council in agreement with the SEC decided to suspend the titles of “Chris Cash & Carry Public Ltd” from August 1, 2005 until the completion of the transfer of shares to “Guedo Holdings Ltd” from the shareholders that have accepted the offer. This decision was taken for the protection of the investing public pursuant to Article 29(1) of the CSE Law, taking into account the Company's request.

On the 1st of August 2005, the CSE Council announced that the company “G.A.P. Vassilopoulos Ltd” has changed its name to “G.A.P. Vassilopoulos Public Ltd”. This change has been effective from Friday, August 5, 2005.

On the 5th of August 2005, 52-week Treasury Bills (14/7/2005 - 13/7/2006) of total value £99.050.000, which have resulted from an auction held on July 14, 2005, started trading.

On the 5th of August 2005, 4.00% Government Bonds, 1st Series 2005 - Maturity 2007 issued on July 14, 2005, of total value £50.000.000, which have resulted from an auction held on July 14, 2005, started trading.

On the 8th of August 2005, the CSE announced that the procedure for the stock dividend payment of “Apollo Investment Fund Public Company Ltd” has been completed, after the distribution of shares bought through the buyback procedure.

On the 9th of August 2005, the CSE Council announced that the company “Jupiter Portfolio Investments Ltd” has changed its name to “Jupiter Portfolio Investments Public Company Ltd”. This change has been effective from Tuesday, August 16, 2005.

On the 9th of August 2005, the CSE Council announced that the company “A.S.G. Ltd” has changed its name to “A.S.G. (Andy Spyrou) Group Public Ltd”. This change has been effective from Tuesday, August 16, 2005.

On the 9th of August 2005, the CSE Council announced that the company “Dodoni Portfolio Investment Company Limited” has changed its name to “Dodoni Portfolio Investment Public Company Limited”. This change has been effective from Tuesday, August 16, 2005.

On the 9th of August 2005, the CSE Council announced that the company “Stario Investments Ltd” has changed its name to “Stario Portfolio Investments Public Company Ltd”. This change has been effective from Tuesday, August 16, 2005.

On the 9th of August 2005, the CSE Council announced that the company “Lemeco Silvex Industries Ltd” has changed its name to “Lemeco Silvex Industries Public Company Ltd”. This change has been effective from Tuesday, August 16, 2005.

On the 9th of August 2005, the CSE Council announced that the company “Elma Holdings Ltd” has changed its name to “Elma Holdings Public Company Ltd”. This change has been effective from Tuesday, August 16, 2005.

On the 18th of August 2005, the CSE Council announced that the company “Salamis Tours (Holdings) Ltd” has changed its name to “Salamis Tours (Holdings) Public Ltd”. This change has been effective from Thursday, August 18, 2005.

On the 18th of August 2005, the CSE Council announced that the company “Salamis Tours (Holdings) Ltd” has changed its name to “Salamis Tours (Holdings) Public Ltd”. This change has been effective from Thursday, August 18, 2005.

On the 18th of August 2005, the titles of “Chris Cash & Carry Public Ltd” following the completion of the procedure of the transfer of titles of those who have accepted the Public Offer to “Guedo Holdings Ltd”, resumed trading. The Company also applied for the delistment of its titles from the CSE, which have been discussed by the CSE Council at its following regular meeting on August 25, 2005.

On the 24th of August 514 new 2011 Bonds of the “Hellenic Bank Public Company Ltd” of nominal value £100 each, which have resulted from the reinvestment of the interest for the period 1/4/05 – 31/6/05, started trading.

On the 26th of August 2005, the CSE Council announced that the company “C.C.C. Holdings & Investments Ltd” has changed its name to “C.C.C. Holdings & Investments Public Company Ltd”. This change will be effective from Thursday, September 1, 2005.

On the 26th of August 2005, the CSE Council announced that the company “C.C.C. Tourist Enterprises Ltd” has changed its name to “C.C.C. Tourist Enterprises Public Company Ltd”. This change will be effective from Thursday, September 1, 2005.

On the 26th of August 2005, the CSE Council announced that the company “K + G Complex Ltd” has changed its name to “K + G Complex Public Company Ltd”. This change will be effective from Thursday, September 1, 2005.

On the 26th of August 2005, the CSE Council announced that the company “The Cyprus Cement Company Ltd” has changed its name to “The Cyprus Cement Public Company Ltd”. This change will be effective from Thursday, September 1, 2005.

On the 30th of August 2005, the CSE Council announced that the company “Atlantic Insurance Company Ltd” has changed its name to “Atlantic Insurance Company Public Ltd”. This change will be effective from, September 5, 2005.

On the 30th of August 2005, the CSE further to a recent announcement dated June 27, 2005 regarding the deadline granted to “Aristo Developers Ltd” until August 29 for its compliance with Regulation 61(1)(g) of the CSE Regulations, which provides for a sufficient dispersion of the share capital of the listed companies to the public, announced that the Company has complied with the Regulation and there is no issue of suspension of its titles.
