Prices: The last day of the month General Price Index was 293.56 points. It is worthy to mention, however, that the highest level that the index reached for the month was 362.36 points. On a sectoral level, sub-indices reached the following points: Banking sector 334.4 , Approval Investment companies sector 229.32, Insurance companies sector 11 6.28, Manufacturing sector 1 0 .22, Tourism sector 1 85.90, Trading sector 7 .2 , the Other Companies sector 3 2.69, Building and Cement 80.56, Information Technology 92.8, Financial Services 84.35, Fish Culture 9.00, and finally Hotels with 88.23 points.
Market Capitalisation: The total market capitalisation (shares) reached £7,704 billion from £9,008 billion the previous month registering a decrease of 1 4.47%. According to this month results the Banking sector accounted for 42.42% of the total market capitalisation, the Miscellaneous Companies sector 1 0.84%, and the Tourism sector 3.50%. The Trading sector 2.74%, the Manufacturing sector 5.65%, the Approved Investment Companies sector 7.08%, the Insurance sector 1 .08%, the Building and Cement sector 1 .52%, the Information Technology sector 11 .9 %, the Financial Services sector 8.22%, the Fish Culture sector 0.72%, and finally Hotels sector with 4.32% respectively, of the total market capitalisation. Moreover the total market capitalisation including the Corporate and Government bonds decreased to £8,774 billion compared to £0,422 billion at the previous month registering a decrease of 1 5.8 %.
Transactions: The total value of transactions during the month in review reached £458 million with an average of £20 million per trading session. The Banking sector contributed 22.24% of the total value traded, which was the highest, whereas the Government Bonds had the lowest contribution with 0.0 %.
Investors primarily focused their interest on the shares of L.K.Globalsoft.Com Ltd and Cyprus Popular Bank with 1 8.94% and 1 2.98% respectively.
CSE Events
On the 2 nd of October the Council of the CSE decided to create the following new sub-sector categories: Building and Cement Companies, Information Technology Companies, Financial Services Companies, Fish Culture & Fish & Trading Companies, Hotels. On the 1 4 th of October the president of the Council Mr. Paris P. Lenas participated in the Money Show conference with a speech about the “CSE challenges and Opportunities, of the Cyprus Stock Exchange”. On the 1 6 th till 1 7 th of October the president of the Council Mr. Paris P.Lenas and the General Manager Mr. Nondas Metaxas visited the ASE for further development and cooperation between the two exchanges.
On the 23 rd of October the CSE Council announced that the calculation of the CSE General Index changed. The prices of first-time traded shares will not be calculated in the Index for five working days beginning from the first day of commercial trading.
On the 26 th till 27 th of October the CSE participated with its Stand at CyServ 2000 Exhibition at the International Conference Centre, in Nicosia
On the 29 th of October the President of the Council Mr. Paris P. Lenas participated in the public discussion of CyServ about the Stock Market with a Speech about “CSE , challenges and Opportunities”
