Cyprus Stock Exchange Monthly Report - June

During June there was a slight decrease in the General Price Index but also in the value of shares traded compared to May. The various figures and statistics are analysed below:

Prices: On the last day of the month General Price Index was 471.85 points. It is worthy to mention, however, that the highest level that the index reached for the month was 534.46 points. On a sectoral level, sub-indices reached the following points: Banking sector 559.28, Approval Investment companies sector 357.60, Insurance companies sector 330.74, Manufacturing sector 168.09, Tourism sector 408.05, Trading sector 181.62, and fmally the Other Companies sector 542.84.

Market Capitalization: The total market capitalisation (shares) reached £8,748 billion from £9,919 billion the previous month registering a decrease of 11.81%. According to this month results, the Banking sector accounted for 58.14% of the total market capitalisation, the Miscellaneous Companies sector 15.73%, the Tourism sector 7.36%, The Trading sector 6.10%, the Manufacturing sector 4.33%, the Approved Investment Companies sector 6.39%, the Insurance sector and 0.95% respectively of the total market cap. Moreover the total market capitalisation including the Corporate and Government bonds declined to £10,390 billion compared to £11,635 billion at the previous mouth registering a decrease of 10.07%.

Transactions: The total value of transactions during the month in review reached £992 million with an average of £47 million per trading session. The Miscellaneous sector contributed 34.83% of the total value traded, which was the highest, whereas the Government Bonds had the lowest contribution will 0.07%.

Investors primarily focused their interest on the shares of Toxotis Investments Ltd and Bank of Cyprus Ltd with 7.52% and 7.20% respectively.
