Cyprus Stock Exchange Developments in April 2000

During April there was a slight decrease not only in the General Price Index but also in the value of the shares traded compared to March. The last trading day of the month saw the General Price Index at 549.51 points. The index high during April was 559.26 points.

The total market capitalisation (shares) reached CYP10,037 billion from CYP8,399 billion the previous month, registering an increase of 19.49%.

The total market capitalisation including corporate and government bonds reached CYP11,757 billion compared to CYP10,015 billion the previous month, registering an increase of 17.39%.

The total value of transactions during the month in review reached CYP670 million with an average of CYP35 million per trading session.
