Cross Border Settlement Through Direct Link Between HEX And VPC

As of Monday, 3rd of June 2002, cross border settlement of both Finnish and foreign equities will be possible via a direct link between HEX and the Swedish central securities depository, VPC. The link ensures barrier-free cross-border portfolio management by streamlining the transaction chain. Similar links already exist between HEX and the German, French and Dutch central securities depositories.

The link will promote cross-border investing and offer investors new possibilities in securities clearing and settlement. Furthermore, it will offer new opportunities for companies listed both at Helsinki Exchanges and Stockholm Stock Exchange. Among other things, the link enables foreign securities to be cleared, settled and book-entered in Finnish systems. The link is based on reliable SWIFT messages.
