A number of MidCap+ and SmallCap+ companies are behind the initiative. The companies wish to give the private investor, the financial journalist as well as the professional analyst better tools to retrieve investor relevant information on the Internet. The joint website provides quick and easy access to significant investor information about the companies of the plus segments.
"With the Plus-Portal.dk we have got a digital meeting place for the MidCap+ and SmallCap+ companies. The companies wished to establish a joint website providing quick access to relevant investor information about the companies. From the outset, it has been natural for us to support the companies in their efforts to carry out this ambitious project, and as of tomorrow, the Plus-Portal.dk will be ready to welcome everybody," says Hans-Ole Jochumsen, President and CEO of the Copenhagen Stock Exchange.
Journalistic portal
The communications agency Jøp, Ove & Myrthu A/S is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the portal, and their journalistic editorial team will exclusively work with the Plus-Portal.dk.
The editorial team will provide daily news updates on the registered companies - and the two plus segments in general. Moreover, you may find a lot of useful information about the individual company at www.Plus-Portal. dk.
The Plus-Portal.dk is a whole new concept. Never before has a website been dedicated to specific segments on the equity market and sponsored by the companies themselves and a stock exchange at the same time as a journalistic editorial team provides the news about the companies on the website.
Positive development
MidCap+ and SmallCap+ and their belonging indices were established on 1 April 2003. To be eligible for the segments, the companies must meet certain criteria that go beyond the requirements applicable to a listed company, and in addition the company's shares must meet a number of liquidity goals.
The companies have performed considerably well. The shares included in the two segments can be traded at sharp prices, as the difference between the best bid price and ask price (the so-called spread) has narrowed from 1.67 per cent to 0.81 per cent for MidCap+ companies and from 3.05 per cent to 1.39 per cent for SmallCap+ companies. At the same time, it is now possible to trade the plus shares throughout the day since prices are now quoted in the shares throughout the opening hours of the trading system.
"We see that both the investors and the media are becoming more interested in MidCap+ and SmallCap+. In a sense this is only natural since these are companies that make an extra effort to meet the requirements of the modern and at times demanding investor," he said.
At present, 26 MidCap+ and SmallCap+ companies have signed up for the news portal.
