The turnover in the MidCap+ segment followed the overall market and fell by just under 8 per cent, whereas the SmallCap+ segment grew by 28 per cent on the month of September. When comparing with the first 10 months of 2002, the turnover in the MidCap+ and SmallCap+ segments has increased by 73 per cent and 47 per cent, respectively.
In October, the KFX Index climbed 8 per cent, whereas the MidCap+ and SmallCap+ indices grew by 9 per cent and 6 per cent, respectively. These gains have meant that the total value of listed shares increased by DKK 48.9 billion in comparison with end-September.
The most active share in October was A.P. Møller - Mærsk B at DKK 8.9 billion, followed by Danske Bank at just under DKK 6.8 billion. Novo Nordisk B was the third most active share with a turnover of just over DKK 4.7 billion.
In October, the stock exchange listed investment funds once again progressed with a turnover DKK 3.6 billion, an increase of 2.3 per cent on September. The turnover in non-listed investment funds on the XtraMarked was DKK 4.1 billion, which is an increase of 46.2 per cent compared with September.
On the derivatives market in October a total of 64,277 contracts were traded, down from 72,508 in September. 54,640 were futures contracts and 9,637 were option contracts.
In October, bond trading came to just under DKK 498 billion against just under DKK 508 billion in September. This decrease may primarily be ascribed to a fall in the turnover in government bonds, whereas the turnover in mortgage bonds progressed compared with the month before. However, compared with the first 10 months of 2002, the turnover in 2003 is still 21 per cent higher.
With a total turnover of nearly DKK 50 billion the government 5% bullet loan with expiry in 2013 was the most actively traded bond in October. The most active mortgage bond was Nykredit's 5% 03D with expiry in 2035 at DKK 14.5 billion.
