In comparison with August, equity trading rose by 11 per cent to an average daily trading of DKK 1.6 billion. The total equity turnover amounted to DKK 32.6 billion, approximately 1 billion lower than in August. However, due to the fact that there were 3 trading days fewer in September, the average daily trading volume was higher in September.
The KFX shares were traded to an amount of DKK 26.3 billion, which corresponds to 81 per cent of the total turnover.
Novo Nordisk was September's most frequently traded share reaching DKK 4.2 billion. Second was Danske Bank with DKK 3.8 billion followed by Vestas Wind Systems with a turnover of DKK 3.6 billion.
Among the unit trusts, Carnegie W.W achieved the highest turnover of DKK 282 million followed by Danske Inv. Stabil with DKK 246 million, Danske Inv. EuroStocks with DKK 114 million and Danske Inv. Danmark with DKK 94 million. These four largest unit trusts accounted for one third of the total turnover for unit trusts.
On 21 September, the KFX Index reached the lowest level this year with a value of 235.60. Over the month, the drop was 11 per cent, and compared with end-September 2000 the index has decreased by 24 per cent. By the end of September, the KVX Index was at 354.63, which is a 20-per cent drop in comparison with the end of August 2001 and a 64-per cent drop in comparison with September 2000.
The bond market performed its highest activity over the past six months in September with a daily turnover of DKK 22.2 billion. In September bonds were traded in an amount of DKK 444 billion in terms of market value, which is 18 per cent more than in August. Compared with September 2000, this is a decline of 19 per cent.
The most frequently traded bond was the government 6% 2011 with DKK 50.1 billion followed by 6% 2001 with half that amount at DKK 25 billion.
