Copenhagen Stock Exchange: Share Trading In December On Level With The Average Of The Second Half Of 2001 - Record High Turnover In Bonds

The share turnover in December amounted to DKK 27.5 billion, which corresponds to an average of DKK 1.6 billion per day. This was somewhat higher than the average daily turnover in the second half of 2001.

The full year 2001 resulted in a total share turnover of DKK 550.5 billion in market value.

In December, the KFX shares were traded to an amount of DKK 21.8 billion, which accounts for 79 per cent of the total turnover. Novo Nordisk, Vestas Wind Systems and Danske Bank once again ranked the highest with turnovers of DKK 4.1 billion, DKK 3.8 billion and DKK 2.8 billion.

The KFX Index closed the year at 270.74, which is 14 per cent lower than end-December 2000 and unchanged compared with end-November 2001. The KVX Index of growth companies did well in December with an increase of 15 per cent, but for the full year the index dropped by 40 per cent.

The 10 most actively traded shares in 2001 reached a total turnover of DKK 377.9 billion in market value corresponding to 69 per cent of the total turnover in 2001.

The bond turnover broke records in December with an average daily turnover of DKK 37.4 billion in market value, which translates into an increase of 21 per cent compared with November 2001 and an increase of 28 per cent compared with December 2000. The total turnover in December amounted to DKK 635.3 billion.

The turnover in 2001 reached DKK 5,557 billion in market value, which was on level with 2000.

The bond average yield rose by 18 basis points over the month of December to 5.62 per cent at the end of 2001. This is 40 basis points lower than at the turn of the year 2000/2001. The lowest level in 2001 was 5.24 per cent in November, and the highest was 6.04 per cent in May.

In December 2001, derivatives trading resulted in a daily average of 2,384 contracts, equal to an increase of 15 per cent in relation to November 2001.
