Date 06/06/2001

In May 2001, equity trading amounted to DKK 68.5 billion, up 19 per cent on May 2000 and 34 per cent on April 2001, which only comprised 18 trading days. The value of average daily trading amounted to just under DKK 3.3 billion, a 15 per cent rise on April 2001 and a 25 per cent rise on May last year.

The KFX shares reached a total turnover of DKK 49.9 billion and they accounted for 73 per cent of the total turnover.

In connection with the review of the KFX portfolio i-data international and NKT Holding left the index and were replaced by NavisionDamgaard and Copenhagen Airports. As a result, the market capitalisation of the KFX portfolio, measured at end-May 2001, will increase by DKK 9 billion to DKK 664 billion on 18 June, when the new portfolio enters into effect. The rise is primarily due to the fact that i-data international and NKT Holding with an aggregate market cap of a mere DKK 11.5 billion will be replaced by shares that have a market cap of more than DKK 15.2 billion.

TDC was the most actively traded share with a turnover of DKK 8.3 billion in May, then followed Novo Nordisk with a turnover of DKK 7.3 billion. Vestas Wind Systems was the third most-active share with a turnover of DKK 6.3 billion.

Turnover in insurance companies boomed, primarily because Topdanmark increased its holding of own shares significantly in connection with a buy-back scheme.

Two KFX shares were to be found among the 25 star performers. The price of Lundbeck shares rose by 33.5 per cent and NEG Micon shares rose by 18.7 per cent. Two KVX shares were also represented among the 25 star performers - Genmab prices and eHuset prices rose by 58.7 and 44.5 per cent, respectively.

The KFX Index gained 6.4 per cent compared with April and closed May at 317.30, which was 9.1 per cent higher than end-May last year. Since the beginning of the year, the KFX Index has gained 1.1 per cent.
