History shows that the equity market has the best performance record in an election year when the incumbent president is re-elected. In general, the equity market has a better performance record when the White House is led by a Democratic president rather than a Republican president. This also applies to the Congress as the shares perform better under Democratic dominance. However, the best performance is apparently achieved, when the president is a Democrat and Congress is controlled by the Republicans.
