Cook Inlet Natural Gas Storage Alaska, LLC Selects SunGard’s Aligne To Help Drive Efficiencies In Pipeline Operations

Date 10/12/2012

Cook Inlet Natural Gas Storage Alaska, LLC (CINGSA), has selected SunGard’s Aligne Pipe Operations to help streamline gas pipeline operations, manage regulatory compliance, and improve customer service in support of its new natural gas storage facility.

SunGard’s Aligne helps gas marketers drive efficiencies in their gas pipeline operations by managing cross-pipeline contracts, scheduling, nominations, balancing, allocation, and actualization activities in a single platform.  A single platform approach with an open architecture helps drive a lower total cost of ownership, allowing for ease of expansion both functionally and across a growing enterprise.  The solution’s support for an operational flow model common to pipelines and storage facilities in the Alaska region combined with its hourly gas capability with daily flow rates will help facilitate real-time reporting and operational transparency for CINGSA.

The pipeline operations functionality of Aligne is part of a suite of solutions for energy trading and risk management that includes gas and pipeline operations, power operations, and bulk fuels management. The solution also offers integrated data feeds, data analysis, reporting and warehousing.  It can be implemented on-premise or in a hosted, private cloud environment, helping companies to minimize IT burden and ongoing costs.

Throughout its development period, ENSTAR Natural Gas Company provided for CINGSA’s construction and administrative needs. Travis Renk, ENSTAR Gas Operations Manager, said, “We chose SunGard’s Aligne to assist us in making real-time nominations and to provide reports in a self-service mode as well as handle flow allocation. SunGard was also able to meet our aggressive implementation timeline.”

Andrew Bateman, President of SunGard’s Energy and Commodities business, said, “SunGard’s Aligne will help CINGSA meet the challenging market conditions of the Cook Inlet Basin by delivering automation and real-time reporting for a wide range of tasks, including inventory, pricing, settlements, and invoicing.  This valuable business insight is critical in today’s environment of concerns about security of gas supplies, climate change and environmental impacts.”
