FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index:

Consultation Programme - Country Coverage Within The FTSE Global Equity Index Series

Date 12/11/2003

FTSE Group has launched a worldwide consultation programme to establish a framework for classification of countries in global indices.

With international investment flows growing and countries competing for those assets, it is increasingly important that a single standard to assess the market status of countries is identified and adopted by the investment community.

The purpose of the consultation programme is to set out FTSE's proposed approach to determining the eligibility of markets and the classification of countries. Views will be gathered from the investment community on whether the proposed approach will meet the requirements of most index users.

FTSE's independent Advisory Committees will agree the criteria following collation of responses during the first quarter of 2004. Implementation of any agreed changes will be applied to the FTSE Global Equity Index Series in 2005.

For further information and to respond to the consultation paper on-line visit www.ftse.com/country. The consultation will run until the 19th December 2003.
