Granada Media Group, Dimension Data, Electocomponents, Spirent plc and Baltimore Technology will become new constituents of the UK’s benchmark index, taking effect from close of business on Friday 15 September 2000. To make way for these new entrants five companies - Corus Group, Scottish and Newcastle, Rolls Royce, Hanson plc and Associated British Foods - will be deleted from the FTSE 100.
The Committee approved the constituent changes in accordance with the FTSE Actuaries Ground Rules, which are available at http://www.ftse.com
Commenting on the announcement, Mark Makepeace, FTSE Managing Director said: “Constituent changes to all of FTSE’s indexes simply reflect movement in the market. These changes ensure that the indexes continue to accurately reflect the underlying market.”
