“The securities industry made
significant strides in improving investor-protection measures this year. We endorsed and supported the Securities and
Exchange Commission’s numerous mutual-fund rules that provide investors with
greater clarity on fees and services related to their investment
decisions. We worked with the
Commission on its efforts to modernize the rules related to the structure of
the national markets,” said SIA Chairman Richard E. Thornburgh, vice chairman of the Executive Board of Credit
Suisse First Boston and a member of the Executive Board of Credit Suisse
Group. “The industry also saw our
tax-reform efforts with the Administration and Congress come to fruition for
investors, as more companies declared new or higher dividends, providing
investors with more incentives to save and invest.”
