The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) invited comments on guidelines on marketing communications under the Regulation on cross-border distribution of funds, ESMA will consider all comments received by 8 February 2021.
Commenting on ESMA's proposals, ICI Global Chief Counsel Jennifer Choi said:
“ESMA’s proposal could make cross-border fund distribution easier. Indeed, there’s a lot to praise in the consultation: encouraging modern marketing communications would further the EU’s push to a more digital, sustainable economy. We also broadly agree with their high-level approach to marketing communications for ESG funds and strongly urge ESMA to ensure that all the elements of the guidelines are consistent with the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation.”
