Also yesterday, trading volume in E-mini S&P 500 futures climbed to a new record, with 417,351 contracts traded. Yesterday was the first time E-mini S&P 500 futures volume surpassed the 400,000 mark, and the new high tops the contract's previous record of 367,788 contracts, also set on March 6. Combined trading volume in all stock index futures and options on futures totaled a record 675,760 contracts, surpassing the previous record set on March 6, of 633,567 contracts.
Year-to-date volume on GLOBEX totals 35,116,589, with an average daily volume of more than 500,000 contracts a day.
