CME's Electronically Traded Foreign Exchange Futures Volume Surpasses 50,000 Mark

Electronic trading volume in foreign exchange (FX) products traded on GLOBEX®, the electronic trading platform of Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME), broke the 50,000 mark for the first time yesterday, June 10, with 50,074 contracts traded, surpassing the previous record of 48,540 contracts set on May 17.

Volume in EuroFX futures set a new GLOBEX electronic trading record of 25,973 contracts yesterday, surpassing the previous record set on June 6, at 21,828 contracts.

Additionally, open interest in E-mini™ Russell 2000 futures continued to rise to record levels following 10 consecutive days of records which began on May 28 with 8,305 positions and reached 9,732 positions yesterday, June 10.
