CME Stock Index Products Post Consecutive Open Interest Records

For the sixth consecutive session, open interest in stock index products traded on Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) established a new record yesterday, June 18, reaching 1,674,922 open positions.

Also yesterday, open interest in S&P 500 futures rose to record levels for the second consecutive session and broke the 650,000 mark, with 650,802 positions, up from 635,547 positions the previous day. Nasdaq-100 futures rose above the 90,000 open interest mark for the first time, with 90,647 positions, surpassing the previous record of 86,801 set on June 13.

For the second consecutive session, open interest in E-mini™ Russell 2000 futures set a record yesterday, June 18, with 10,361 positions, surpassing the record 10,075 positions set on June 17.

In addition, in foreign exchange products, Mexican peso futures traded on GLOBEX®, the electronic trading platform of CME, posted record volume with 1,496 contracts traded, surpassing its previous record of 1,343 contracts set on Jan. 11.
