CME Statement on William Rainer Nomination to Head CFTC

Chicago Mercantile Exchange Chairman Scott Gordon issued the following statement regarding the nomination of William J Rainer as chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission: "The Chicago Mercantile Exchange congratulates William Rainer upon his nomination to chair the CFTC. His experience in futures and financial markets make him highly qualified to take on the challenges the Commission faces as it heads into the reauthorization process next year. Of immediate concern is the need for the Commission to take action without delay to grant the U.S. exchanges regulatory parity with foreign exchanges and off-exchange products in order that we can compete in a fair and level environment. The CME looks forward to working with Mr. Rainer and the CFTC on this and other critical issues."
