CME Names New Staff Officers

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange today announced the promotions of two new officers on its staff, approved this week by the Executive Committee of the CME Board of Directors: John F, Curran, promoted to Vice President, Strategic Development, from Senior Director, Financial Product Research, and Arman Falsafi, promoted to Vice President, Technology Strategy, from Senior Director, Technology Strategy. "More than ever before, the fast pace of change in financial markets requires experienced and talented senior staff to help steer the Chicago Mercantile Exchange into the new millennium," CME Chairman Scott Gordon said. "We are fortunate to have highly qualified individuals such as these as we move forward." Curran will continue to be a key participant in the development of the CME's demutualization plan as well as play a central role in the development of financial products for the Exchange. He joined the CME in 1997 as a Senior Financial Economist and was promoted to Senior Director, Financial Product Research. He holds a B.A. in Economics from Emory University in Atlanta and is completing a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago. Falsafi will serve as project manager for the GLOBEX® Alliance, responsible for coordinating various Alliance project initiatives and developing and implementing technology strategy. She came to the CME in September 1999 as Senior Director. Previously, Falsafi served as Director, Delivery Management and Oversight, Systems Integration, Financial Services for MCI Systemhouse. She holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Connecticut, an M.S. in Computer Systems Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
