CME Daily Volume Tops 7.0 Million For The First Time Ever - Exchange Also Sets New Single Day Volume Records In Electronic Trading Of Futures And Options On Futures On CME® Globex®

CME, the largest U.S. futures exchange, today announced that on Friday, April 15, trading volume exceeded 7.0 million contracts in a single day for the first time*, surpassing the previous CME record of 6.7 million set on Friday, April 1. Average daily volume at CME for April to date is now 4.7 million contracts.

CME Globex, the exchange’s electronic trading platform that operates virtually 24 hours every trading day, set a new single-day record, trading 4.9 million contracts, beating the earlier record of 4.4 million set on Friday, April 1. The exchange also set a single-day record of electronic options on futures, trading 106,033 contracts.

CME also set a new record in E-mini S&P 500 equity index futures, trading 1.4 million contracts, breaking the previous record of 1.3 million set on March 11, 2004.
