Clearstream’s December And Year 2011 Figures - Assets Held Under Custody Reached An All-Time High Yearly Average In 2011 With € 11.1 Trillion - A Monthly Average Of 10.5 Million Transactions Were Settled In 2011, The Highest Ever - GSF Monthly Average Outstanding Volume Continually Grew Over The Last Years With An All-Time High Yearly Average Of 592.2 Billion In 2011

In December 2011, the value of assets under custody held on behalf of customers registered a decrease of 4 percent to € 10.9 trillion (compared to € 11.3 trillion in December 2010). Securities held under custody in Clearstream’s international business stayed flat at € 5.9 trillion in December 2010 and December 2011 while domestic German securities held under custody decreased by 7 percent from € 5.4 trillion in December 2010 to € 5.0 trillion in December 2011.

For 2011, yearly average of the value of assets under custody held on behalf of customers reached € 11.1 trillion compared to € 10.9 trillion in 2010, an increase of 2 percent. 

In December 2011, 2.8 million international transactions were processed, a 19 percent decline over December 2010 (3.5 million). Of all international transactions, 83 percent were OTC transactions and 17 percent were registered as stock exchange transactions. For 2011, Clearstream processed 37.9 million international transactions, an increase of 2 percent compared to 2010.

On the German domestic market, settlement transactions reached 6.3 million, 12 percent less than in December 2010 (7.2 million). Of these transactions, 65 percent were stock exchange transactions and 35 percent OTC transactions. In 2011, Clearstream processed 88.4 million domestic settlement transactions compared to 79.3 million in 2010, an increase of 11 percent.

For Global Securities Financing (GSF) services, the monthly average outstanding reached € 638.7 billion. The combined services, which include triparty repo, securities lending and collateral management, collectively experienced a rise of 12 percent over December 2010 (€ 572.4 billion). For the year 2011, monthly average outstanding reached € 592.2 billion compared to € 521.6 billion in 2010, an increase of 14 percent.

In the Investment Funds services, 0.45 million transactions were processed, a 12 percent decrease over December 2010 (0.51 million). For 2011, 5.3 million transactions were processed, a 3 percent increase over 2010 (5.1 million).
