Clearstream Successfully Launches The Only Tri-party Collateral Management Solution With ECMS Go-Live

Date 30/06/2025

  • Clearstream is the only CSD to offer full tri-party collateral management integration with the Eurosystem Collateral Management System (ECMS)
  • Safekeeping and transfer of all ECB-eligible marketable assets through Clearstream’s Pan-European CSD Solution
  • Solution represents a cornerstone of the industry’s move toward harmonized, real-time collateral mobility

After the successful launch, Clearstream has experienced a smooth start to its integrated tri-party collateral management solution with the Eurosystem Collateral Management System (ECMS). Starting from the launch of the European platform on June 16, 2025, Clearstream has been offering its clients comprehensive connectivity, being the only central securities depository (CSD) to provide full tri-party collateral management integration with the ECMS.

Via Clearstream, market participants are now able to leverage the ECMS as a single pool of collateral across Europe for both bilateral and tri-party collateral movements. The ECMS, launched by the European Central Bank (ECB), is a unified platform designed to manage collateral for all Eurozone national central banks. The ECMS replaces fragmented national systems with a single, standardized infrastructure, improving cross-border collateral mobility, operational efficiency, and access to central bank liquidity.

Rounding out its comprehensive ECMS offering, Clearstream allows for the safekeeping and transfer of all ECB-eligible marketable assets through its Pan-European CSD Solution. Clearstream connects market participants to all T2S markets, across all asset classes, enabling effortless cross-border investments across Europe.

Marton Szigeti, Head of Collateral, Lending and Liquidity Solutions at Clearstream, says: “Clearstream’s ECMS tri-party solution is a cornerstone of the industry’s move toward harmonized post-trade infrastructures and real-time collateral mobility, supporting the transition to T+1 and the goals of a European Savings and Investments Union. We are very proud to have been able to offer integrated access to the ECMS via our unique tri-party collateral management capabilities as of day 1.”
