Also since the beginning of June, Clearnet has offered clearing services for Dutch and Portuguese debt transactions, as it has for French debt since 1998 and for German debt since 1999. Clearnet is considering the extension of services to Italian and Belgian debt transactions in the near future, in keeping with its goal of becoming a major provider of clearing services for European governments' issues.
In addition to its role in the clearing of cash and repo transactions in European governments' securities, Clearnet acts as the central counterparty for Euronext markets, making it the first pan-European clearing house.
