Chunghwa Telecom's offering brings the total number of new non-U.S. listings on the NYSE this year to 10. Non-U.S. companies that have listed on the NYSE this year include three IPOs, three Nasdaq transfers and one Amex transfer, as well as one spin-off and one quotation listing. The non-U.S. companies listed on the NYSE this year have so far raised $2.55 billion.
Today's offering by Chunghwa Telecom followed a highly successful IPO and NYSE listing earlier this month by Axis Capital Holdings Ltd. (AXS), which raised $473 million. Earlier this year, an IPO from Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd. (ENH) raised $220.8 million on the NYSE, while Telkom South Africa Ltd. (TKG), a privatized company in South Africa, listed on the NYSE and raised $486.7 million in global proceeds.
Chunghwa Telecom is Taiwan's major provider of fixed-line and cellular services. Telkom SA Limited is a South African integrated communications group that provides wireline and wireless services throughout South Africa and, increasingly, into other African countries. Axis Capital Holdings Limited provides specialty lines insurance and treaty reinsurance on a global basis through its operating subsidiaries based in Bermuda, Ireland and the United States. Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd. is a holding company with operating subsidiaries based in Bermuda, the United Kingdom and the United States, focusing on writing specialty lines of commercial property and casualty insurance and reinsurance on a global basis.
