Chris Moller Appointed To NZX Directorship

Date 15/05/2008

Chris Moller, Chief Executive of the New Zealand Rugby Union until December 2007, has agreed to take a position on the Board of NZX.

During his time with the NZRU Moller jointly spearheaded the successful New Zealand bid to host the 2011 Rugby World Cup. He remains a director of Rugby World Cup New Zealand 2011 Limited, the joint venture between the New Zealand Government and the NZRU responsible for organising the 2011 tournament.

Moller came to that role on the strength of a distinguished career in the dairy industry, most recently as Deputy Chief Executive of Fonterra. Prior to that he was Managing Director of NZMP, the international ingredients business, New Zealand Milk Products. He held a number of senior posts with the then New Zealand Dairy Board and in the finance and banking sectors, including global CFO of the New Zealand Dairy Board, for a number of years.

“The NZX Board believes that Chris’s experience and global outlook will support the NZX strategy, both in strengthening New Zealand’s capital markets and furthering NZX’s business initiatives in other markets,” said NZX Board Chairman Simon Allen.

“Chris’s serious business acumen, his significant breadth of global contacts, and his absolute commitment to New Zealand make him an ideal addition to the NZX Board,” said NZX CEO Mark Weldon.

“The opportunity to be engaged in the strategic direction and governance of NZX is one I am keen to be part of,” said Moller.

“NZX is proving that to be strong in New Zealand you have to be respected overseas, and to be competitive overseas you have to be successful in New Zealand.

“I am determined to be an informed and conscientious NZX Board member, and I look forward to being part of the next stage of the company’s development,” said Moller.
