China’s Next Phase Of Modernization – World Economic Forum In Beijing On 9-10 September - World Economic Forum Participants To Address China’s Transformation And Its Impact On Key Industries At The China Business Summit 2005

The World Economic Forum announced today that its China Business Summit will take place in Beijing on 9 and 10 September 2005. For over 25 years, the China Business Summit, which is held in cooperation with the China Enterprise Confederation, has been the premier annual gathering of local and foreign business leaders in China.

The China Business Summit 2005 will bring together over 400 participants from global and regional business, together with a number of senior and rising provincial government officials, members of academia, media leaders and experts from China and abroad. Under the central theme “China’s Next Phase of Modernization: Creating Scientific and Sustainable Solutions”, the Summit will examine the business implications of current government efforts to accelerate institutional innovation, reform state-owned enterprises, promote environment-friendly industries and develop the western provinces. By interacting with Chinese officials, rising entrepreneurs and local executives, participants will understand how new policy priorities and market opportunities are changing the strategies of multinational and Chinese companies in key sectors of the economy. The programme of the China Business Summit which combines panels, workshops and high-level roundtable discussions will enable participants to gain insights into the future pace and profile of China’s transformation and its impact on key industries including IT, Finance, Energy, Tourism and Retailing. The programme will focus specifically on the following core themes:

• Developing Business Strategies Aligned with Policy Priorities and New Reforms
• Managing Emerging Challenges Linked to China’s Rapid Growth
• Building the Chinese Multinational Corporation
• Setting the Industry Agenda in Key Competitive Sectors
