Following the initial public offering China Telecom will be added to the Indexes with a shares in issue total of 75,186,038,000 and an investibility weighting of 11%. The changes to all the aforementioned indices will be effective from start of trading on Monday, 18 November 2002.
China Telecom has satisfied criteria for fast entry into the FTSE/Hang Seng Asiatop Index and the FTSE/Hang Seng Asian Telecoms Index.
With the addition of China Telecom into the FTSE/Hang Seng Asiatop, Henderson Land Development will be deleted from the index. The property developer was the smallest constituent in the index by full market capitalization
