Chicago Stock Exchange Promotes John K. Kerin To Senior Vice President And Chief Technology Officer

Date 16/10/2000

The Chicago Stock Exchange (CHX) announced today the promotion of John K. Kerin to Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. In his new position, Kerin, 38, is responsible for the Exchange's information technology operations and development. He will report to Bob Forney, CHX president and CEO.

"John's 16-year career and extensive experience in information technology will add to our continued success as a technology-driven exchange," said Forney. "His dedication to the CHX, as well as his rapid development as both an information systems professional and a manager, make him the ideal candidate for this position."

Kerin joined the CHX in 1988 to develop its real-time automated trading systems. Later, as a project manager, he led the formation of the Exchange's fault-tolerant data communications systems. Most recently, as vice president of Enterprise Development, Kerin handled the CHX's change management and capacity upgrade issues.

Before joining the CHX, Kerin worked for Northrop Corp. in Rolling Meadows, Ill., where he designed and developed real-time embedded systems. He holds both an MBA and a BS in electrical engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

"The CHX is a thriving organization that has set the standard for technology in our industry," said Kerin. "I am pleased to play a more significant role in its continued technological growth."

The Chicago Stock Exchange was founded May 15, 1882 and is the second most active stock exchange in terms of share and trade volume. The CHX is also the fastest-growing exchange providing the strongest force for competition to all U.S. markets. The CHX trades more than 4,500 NYSE, Amex, Nasdaq and CHX-exclusive issues, more than any other stock exchange in the world.
