The Chicago Stock Exchange introduced a new methodology to more consistently differentiate between on and off floor trading at the CHX. The Exchange has retroactively applied this methodology to all trading activity that occurred in 2002. As a result, volume comparisons will not be made with the previous year month until the release reflecting volume from January 2003.
The Chicago Stock Exchange was founded May 15, 1882 and is the third most active stock exchange in terms of share and trade volume. The CHX has been one of the fastest growing exchanges, over the past five years, providing the strongest force for competition to all U.S. markets. The CHX trades more than 3,500 NYSE, AMEX, Nasdaq and CHX-exclusive issues, more than any other U.S. stock exchange.
