Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. Cancels After-Hours Electronic Trading This Evening

In coordination with other financial exchanges and U.S. regulatory authorities, Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) announced that after-hours electronic trading on the exchange's GLOBEX®2 system will be cancelled this evening, following suspension this morning of all trading in the exchange's contracts. CME officials said the exchange will maintain constant communication with other markets and regulatory authorities in order to determine when open outcry and electronic trading will resume in CME markets.

CME has established a recorded telephone line for information about the situation: 312/930-2324. The recording will be updated as there are new developments.

Trading in all of CME's markets was suspended as of 9:15 a.m. this morning. Trading in interest rate and foreign exchange markets, which opened at 7:20 a.m., suspended at 9:15. Open outcry trading in all U.S. equity and agricultural products, which normally begin at 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. respectively, did not take place. Electronic trading on GLOBEX2 of equity markets was suspended at 8:30.
