The current trial period for the Ferrous Scrap futures contract expires on October 10, 2009 and C-COM has made a decision for not applying for another extension due to the current and past poor trading environment of the Japanese futures market, which led the Exchange to believe that there was little hope for a recovery in the future, despite vigorous efforts in promoting the market made by the Exchange.
Delisting of the Ferrous Scrap futures contract shall take place in the following manner:- After the close of the business on September 10, no new contract months shall be listed.
- On and after October 11, 2009, only offsetting transactions of the existing contract months (November, December 2009, January and February 2010) shall be allowed, and no new transactions shall be made. The market shall be closed on the following business day of the day when the open interests of such contract months are all settled.
