CBOT's June Volume At 23,804,397 Contracts

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) announced today trading volume of 23,804,397 contracts for June 1999. Volume for the first six months of 1999 was 137,265,453.
June Highlights Included: CBOT volume reached more than one million contracts per day on 13 of the 22 trading days in June; Total exchange month-end open interest: 5,203,233; CBOT average daily volume: 1,082,018 contracts; Project A® monthly total: 1,048,307, up 17.5% from May 1999; Project A average daily volume: 47,650; Wheat futures set a daily volume record on June 29 at 66,228; Thirty-Day Fed Fund futures set a daily volume record on June 30 at 14,699.
CBOT Seat Sales: CBOT Full membership last traded at $620,000 as of July 1, 1999; CBOT Associate membership last traded at $230,000 as of June 16, 1999; CBOT Commodity options membership interest last traded at $54,000 as of June 29, 1999; CBOT IDEM membership interest last traded at $32,000 as of June 30, 1999.
Financial Futures and Options: Ten-Year Treasury note futures were up 17.6% from June 1998 at 3,153,035, and up 12.5% YTD at 17,642,607; Five-Year Treasury note futures were up 12.1% from June 1998 at 1,543,853, and up 5.4% YTD at 8,575,144; Thirty-Day Fed Fund futures were up 137.9% from May 1999 and up 156.5% from June 1998 at 159,465, and up 22.8% YTD at 431,431.
Stock Index Futures and Options: CBOT® DJIASM futures volume was 365,429, and up 16.5%YTD at 1,983,707.
Agricultural Futures and Options: Wheat futures were up 51.7% from May 1999 and up 12.2% from June 1998 at 674,580, and up 20.3% YTD at 3,412,834; Corn futures were up 63.8% from May 1999 at 1,597,402; Soybean futures were up 39.6% from May 1999 at 1,149,500; Soybean Meal futures were up 65.6% from May 1999 at 646,806; Soybean Oil futures were up 39.4% from May 1999 at 489,184; Oat futures were up 81.8% from May 1999 at 40,722.
