The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) announced today trading volume of 24,863,506 contracts for August 1999, up 16.0 % from July 1999. August Highlights Included: CBOT volume reached more than one million contracts per day on 17 of the 22 trading days in August; Total exchange month-end open interest: 4,693,394; CBOT average daily volume: 1,130,159, up 10.8% from July 1999; Project A® monthly total: 739,535; Project A average daily volume: 38,923; Wheat futures set a daily volume record on August 2, at 71,471; Soybean options set a daily volume record on August 4, at 74,602. CBOT Seat Sales: CBOT Full membership last traded at $565,000 as of September 1, 1999; CBOT Associate membership last traded at $170,000 as of August 31, 1999; CBOT Commodity options membership interest last traded at $52,000 as of August 24, 1999; CBOT IDEM membership interest last traded at $23,500 as of August 26, 1999. Financial Futures and Options: U.S. Treasury bond futures were up 24.6% from July 1999 at 7,995,190; Ten-Year Treasury note futures were up 53.2% from July 1999 and up 2.8% from August 1998 at 3,735,569, and up 13.3% YTD at 23,816,671; Five-Year Treasury note futures were up 85.5% from July 1999 at 2,163,612; Two-Year Treasury note futures were up 199.0% from July 1999 at 139,182; Thirty-Day Fed Funds futures were up 48.8% from July 1999 and up 143.6% from August 1998 at 117,431, and up 43.5% YTD at 627,774; Municipal Bond Index futures were up 168.5% from July 1999 and up 37.6% from August 1998 at 97,150. Stock Index Futures and Options: CBOT® DJIASM futures were up 22.6% from July 1999 at 342,843, and up 10.0% YTD at 2,606,131.
