The contracts, launched March 15, reached 203,137 contracts at the close of Friday's trading day. Additionally, several other records were broken last week. On Wednesday, May 3, CBOT members set a new 10-Year Agency Note options daily volume record, trading 2,675 contracts. The former 10-Year Agency Note options record was 1,807 contracts , set on April 5, 2000.
In addition, the 10-Year Agency Note contracts set new open interest records on Friday, May 5. The 10-Year Agency Note futures open interest was 31,574, breaking the former record of 30,842, set the proceeding day. The 10-Year Agency Note options open interest reached 8,973, breaking the former record at 6,978, also set on May 4.
The 10-Year Agency Note futures and options are based on Fannie Mae Benchmark NotesSM and Freddie Mac Reference NotesSM. The new contracts complement the CBOT's benchmark Treasury complex and satisfy increasing customer demand for fixed income products.
