CBOT To Open DJIA Futures And Options At 7:20 A.M. Beginning Monday, Nov.29, Side-By-Side Project A Electronic Trading System
Date 24/11/1999
The Chicago Board of Trade's (CBOT) Dow Jones futures and options contracts will begin open outcry trading at 7:20 a.m. (CT) beginning Monday, November 29. The Dow Jones futures contract will also be available to trade side-by-side on the CBOT's Project A electronic trading system from 7:20 a.m. to 7:50 a.m. (Currently, the pit opens for trading at 8:00 a.m. CT.)
The decision to open at the earlier hour is in response to the demands of market users. Having pit trading open earlier allows more liquidity for market users to hedge their positions, especially during critical government reports all in anticipation and readiness for the DJIA cash market to open at 8:30 a.m. (CT).
The CBOT Dow Jones futures contract is the best barometer of market direction before the opening bell on the New York Stock Exchange.
Dow Jones futures and options trading hours, effective November 29 will be: Open Outcry, 7:20 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.Monday through Friday; Project A, Morning, 5:35 a.m. to 7:50 a.m. (Futures only) Monday through Friday; Afternoon, 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; Overnight, 6:05 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday.
