CBOT To Launch 10-Year Agency Note Contracts March 15
Date 06/03/2000
The Chicago Board of Trade announced today it will launch futures and options on 10-Year Agency Notes on Wednesday, March 15, starting at 9:00 a.m. (Chicago time).
The new futures contracts will trade in the 5-Year Treasury Note futures pit, and the new option contracts will trade in the 10-year Treasury Note options pit. Agency futures and options also will trade on the CBOT's electronic trading platform, Project A, beginning Sunday, March 19.
The proposed CBOT 10-Year Agency Note futures and options contracts are based on Fannie MaeĀ® Benchmark NotesSM and Freddie Mac Reference NotesSM. These new risk management tools will complement the CBOT's existing Treasury complex.
The contracts will be certified with the CFTC prior to launch. The CBOT is prepared to launch 5-year Agency Note contracts immediately after March 15 if the market demands it.
