CBOT Starts New Year Strong - Volume Surpasses Five Million In First Full Week On New Electronic Platform

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) completed a strong and successful first full week of trading all CBOT contracts on the exchange's new electronic platform, with the week's volume totaling 5,025,157 contracts.

CEO Bernard W. Dan said, "We are pleased that the CBOT's new electronic platform successfully handled such an impressive amount of volume in its first full week. Following a seamless and final transition to the CBOT's new platform on January 1, 2004, average daily volume was 1,005,031 contracts during the system's first full week of operation. The exchange's new platform features greater functionality and reliability than any other system used to trade futures and options in the world.
