CBOT Soybean Futures Set Daily Volume Record - Surpasses 200,000 Contracts - Exchange Also Sets Volume Record For Soybean Oil Futures

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT®) announced today that its Soybean futures contract set a record on Friday, June 30, 2006, as volume climbed to 200,787 contracts at the close of trading. The new record exceeded the previous record of 193,534 contracts, set on April 28, 2006.

In addition to the Soybean futures record, the Exchange also reported record trading volume in Soybean oil futures last Friday. The new record, 81,204 contracts topped the previous record of 78,559 contracts, set on February 22, 2005.

The CBOT offers a broad set of Agricultural futures and options on futures contracts including Corn, Wheat, Soybeans, Soybean Oil, Soybean Meal, Soybean Crush and Rough Rice. On August 1, 2006, the Exchange will increase global access to these benchmark Agricultural products when it offers trading of Full-sized, physically delivered Agricultural futures contracts on its electronic trading platform during daytime trading hours.
