CBOT Sets Volume Records For Corn And Wheat Futures

Chicago Board of Trade members set new volume records yesterday for daily trading of corn futures and wheat futures. The new daily record for corn futures is 186,201 contracts, surpassing by 9.1 percent the old high of 170,660 set June 27, 1995. For wheat futures, the new record of 74,476 contracts beats the previous record of 71,471 set August 2, 1999. On November 5, 1999, CBOT wheat futures trading for 1999 exceeded the annual volume record of 5,681,569 contracts set last year. The year-to-date volume for wheat is 6,153,390.
