Yesterday's volume eclipsed the previous second-highest volume day of 3,286,987 contracts set on May 28, 2003. The exchange's all-time volume record of 3,331,999 was set on July 31, 2003.
In addition, CBOT's newest products -- CBOT mini-sized DowSM Jones options and Dow JonesSM U.S. Total Market Index futures continue to demonstrate strong growth potential since their launch on February 10, 2004, with the mini-sized Dow options setting daily volume and open interest records yesterday of 1,660 contracts and 3,203 contracts respectively.
The TMI is a broad-based capitalization weighted index that represents 95 percent of the total value of U.S. stocks. Both mini-sized Dow options and the TMI trade exclusively on the exchange's electronic platform, and all exchange fees associated with trading the contracts are being waived through May 31, 2004.
